Known worldwide for its sensational sun, sand and sea, Barbados is home to some of the most impressive beaches known to man. Unique to Barbados is the diversity in beaches achieved by the different oceans that surround the island. The east coast meets the Atlantic Ocean creating a more rocky, reef based setting appropriate for surfers. The south and west coasts are home to the calm Caribbean Sea with crystal clear waters and sparkling white sand.
While there are many popular beaches such as the Crane, Payne’s Bay and Accra, Carlisle Bay remains a local favourite. Carlisle Bay boasts some of the calmest, clearest water to be found around Barbados, and is in fact home to one of the island’s few marine parks, inclusive of a sunken ship that draws in many fish, turtles and other marine life, making it the perfect spot for snorkelling, and scuba diving. It is also centrally located just outside of Bridgetown, a stone’s throw away from many amenities.
